Natural Cleaning Recipes

Recipe Box
Naturally Maid Cleaning hopes that you'll find these recipes useful in your own home cleanings. Natural cleaning isn't as difficult as some may think. A few household ingredients are usually all it takes and for that added pizazz we love using essential oils. Essential oils or aromatherapy is, in our humble opinion, the best approach to natural cleaning. Essential oils have many beneficial properties for the senses, physical health and disinfecting your home. So enjoy these recipes and feel free to contact us and share your own natural recipes with us!

Carpet Freshener:

4 cups cornstarch or baking soda
25 drops rosewood essential oil
35 drops eucalyptus essential oil
30 drops lavender essential oil

Mix these ingredients in a bowl. Break clumps as you stir thoroughly. Sprinkle your freshener from a shaker bottle on carpets approximately 15 minutes before vacuuming. You may create your own set of essential oils to mix in place of the ones listed.

Floor Cleaner:

15 drops orange essential oil
8 drops lemon essential oil
1 gallon hot water
2 tbsp liquid castile or vegetable oil soap

This mixture is great for tough cleaning and it leaves the air clean, purified and smelling wonderful!1/4 cup borax

Drain Cleaner:

For slow drains, use this drain cleaner once a week to keep drains fresh and clog-free.

1/2 cup baking soda
1 cup white vinegar
1 gallon boiling water

Pour baking soda down drain/disposal, followed by vinegar. Allow the mixture to foam for several minutes before flushing the drain with boiling water. To freshen the drain add 2 drops of Lemon Essential oil or juice of 1/2 a lemon!
